South African Medical Journal
S Afr Med J
Published/Hosted by Africa Journals Online.
The South African Medical Journal is published by the South African Medical Association, which represents most medical professionals in the country. Only the three-year South African War prevented its uninterrupted publication for the past 116 years and it has earned an enviable international standing. The journal has over 20,000 readers and is by far the most widely read medical publication in South Africa. It contains cutting-edge peer-reviewed original research, current health policy and scientific debates, a dedicated section on HIV/AIDS, reporting from local scientific congresses, drug alert notices, medical book reviews, a doctors' obituaries column and active letters pages. It also sets itself apart from competing journals with respected editorials and a news team dedicated to covering important medical finance news, legislation and health policy developments, and the most exciting medical happenings throughout Southern Africa.
