The Journal of Documentation publishes submitted and commissioned papers based on research or practice relating to the recording, organisation, management, retrieval, dissemination and use of information in systems of all kinds. An established feature of the Journal is the Progress in Documentation series of review papers, to which contributions are welcomed. Shorter papers are published as Documentation Notes; readers are invited to express their views through Letters to the Editor. A wide range of new books is reviewed critically as part of the Journal's contribution to current awareness. The Managing Editor is always ready to give informal advice to potential writers, but all papers are subject to thorough critical peer review before publication.
