The Journal of Commonwealth Literature is a leading source of critical studies and essays on literature written and published within the Commonwealth. Published in three issues, the first two are critical studies and essays while the third is a bibliographic issue providing an annual checklist of publications in several regions of the Commonwealth. Issues one and two are based on common themes with the reviewers providing a synopsis of the books while highlighting the key issues that the authors discuss. They also reference related books on some of the key subjects, providing a full listing of the book's publishing details in the notes section at the end of the text. As well as the reviews, the journal provides general information in its Notice Board section on forthcoming conferences and courses, tributes, plus a list of books received for future review.
