International Migration is a refereed journal on migration issues as analysed by demographers economists sociologists political scientists and other social scientists from all parts of the world. It covers theoretical and applied aspects of international migration and includes reports on recent conferences and workshops as well as sections on Book Reviews and Recent Publications. Two special issues are published each year in addition to the 4 regular issues. In 2001 the special issues will focus on Globalization and on the 50th Anniversary of the IOM. The journal is published for the International Organization for Migration which was established in 1951. IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. As an intergovernmental body IOM acts with its partners in the international community to: assist in meeting the operational challenges of migration; advance understanding of migration issues; encourage social and economic development through migration; and work towards effective respect of the human dignity and well-being of migrants.
