The overriding aim of Transactions is to maintain its position as one of the foremost international journals of geographical research. To this end it seeks to publish the very best scholarship from around the world across the whole range of the discipline. In particular the distinctive role of the journal is to: Publish 'landmark' articles that make a major theoretical conceptual or empirical contribution to the advancement of geography as an academic discipline Publish formative papers across the whole spectrum of research in the subject Make the journal the leading record of the intellectural development of the discipline Ensure the highest standards of international refereeing Encourage rigorous academic debate in the form of a period Exchange section Stimulate and shape the research agenda in geography through a regular series of Editorials.
