EDCC was the first journal to pioneer the study of noneconomic variables in the development process. In its search for new theoretical approaches that integrate concepts of social change with economic theories, EDCC examines the economic and social forces that affect development and the impact of development on culture. Since 1952 the journal has been an important resource for professionals interested in development issues as well as for scholars, researchers, and practitioners in economics, sociology, political science, geography, anthropology, demography, and social psychology, and agricultural economics.
